The current Trust Board is made up of trustees across the country who are the kaitiaki of our kaupapa.

Huiarau Stewart

Huiarau (Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) comes to us with a background in Māori economic development.

She has a passion for building equity-based organizations and helping them ensure their decision-making considers the impact on mokopuna. Huiarau has extensive experience working across the public sector and currently works as a Strategic Engagement Lead at ACC.

Based out of Rotorua, she is Māmā to two children and enjoys playing netball in her spare time.

Tim Metcalfe

Tim is the Chair of our Board of Trustees, and brings a wealth of knowledge from 40 year’s front-line experience in the delivery of education in the health, disability and social services sectors.

In particular, he brings to the Trust extensive experience engaging in local and national initiatives that support the wellbeing of whānau and families. He is presently also Executive Officer of Jigsaw Whanganui, a well-regarded Te Tiriti social service agency.

Tim wants to see the work of the Jade Speaks Up Educational Trust flourish, and is honoured to serve as a Trustee. Tim and his family live in Whanganui.

In 2011, Tim was awarded the Queens Service medal for services to the community.

Libby Robins

Libby Robins has been working in the community sector in Christchurch for over 30 years. Until 2019 she was Executive Director of the successful Family Help Trust, well known for their evidence based early intervention services. In 2020/21 Libby stepped back to totally focus on research and development for FHT and in July 2021, left altogether in order to focus on research and service effectiveness as an independent Contractor.

Libby’s intention is to use her skills to support and assist other NGO’s to take their services down an evidence pathway. Libby was delighted to be invited to become a board member of the Jade Speaks Up Educational Trust and assist with sustainability plans, programme development and service integrity into the future.

In 2017, Libby was awarded an ONZM for children’s services.

Togia Lanefale

Togia is of Māori and Niuean descent and was born in Auckland. He works as a social worker and group facilitator.

Togia is on this kaupapa to stop the cycle of family violence one whānau at a time; remembering that it’s about the journey, not the destination. A social worker since 2011, he has knowledge of Ministry of Justice safety programmes, family court processes, family violence and drug court protocols, drug and alcohol support services, community housing providers, community law and community service providers.

Togia is based in Auckland and his current work includes being a Toolbox BAW parenting programme facilitator, Stopping Violence programme facilitator for groups, and couples’ relationship work.
